The company was established by a former humble porter who began his journey on Kilimanjaro carrying equipment and supporting climbers from around the world. Through hard work, dedication, and years of experience, he progressed to become a professional mountain guide, successfully leading countless trekkers to the summit of Africa’s highest peak.
The name “Timiza” comes from the Swahili language and means “to achieve,” “to accomplish,” or “to reach a goal.” This powerful meaning reflects both the founder’s personal journey and the company’s mission. Machame route has one of the highest summit success rates given the topography of the route which allows climbers to “trek high and sleep low” hence making it a more favorable route for acclimatization.
